Lake House

How would you design your house if you had one right beside the lake?

The design by Olson Kundig Architects for this waterfront home on Lake Washington combines the themes of nature, art and the science of sustainable design.

The interior spaces are naturally ventilated and lighted. With a glass sculpture suspended just below the skylight, colored lights that trace the sun's arc are projected across the wall.

The tall ceiling height of the living area and the tall glass wall compliment the beautiful lake scenery outside the house. The plain wall on the side picks up the exterior colors and glows accordingly. This wall together with the glass panels form a glamorous feature wall which truly connects nature to the interior.

Sunroom in the Snow

The best time to enjoy a sunroom can be the middle of winter.  While we always think of sitting in a sunroom looking out over a lush garden, the time when we need sun the most is when those plants are well below the snow.
